Thomas White Oxford has been granted consent by Oxford City Council to remove hedgerows within its boundaries at Oxford North in Canalside and Central. The hedgerows along Joe White’s Lane and alongside the homes off Godstow Road will remain untouched.

Hedgerow Removal Applications were submitted following extensive surveys over many months at the project to ensure that the hedgerows can be removed before the bird nesting seasons commences on 1 March.

TWO’s ecology consultancy has carried out weekly inspections and worked with Witney-based Boward Tree Surgery to ensure that all ecological issues have been considered.

Boward Tree Surgery has been at Oxford North since Monday 8 February to carry out low level rural management to remove bramble and scrub.

As a result of the licence approvals, Boward is to commence hedgerow works on Monday 22 February for one week.

TWO has been seeking to realise the vision defined for the site in Oxford City Council’s Area Action Plan of July 2015. On the 16 December 2019, TWO’s planning application was resolved to be approved by Oxford City Council. TWO continues to be in discussions with Oxford City Council to progress the relevant legal agreements and planning conditions. Subject to these matters being concluded, outline consent for the overall masterplan and detailed consent for phase 1a of development will be granted.
